Hi! I’m really glad you’re here. Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and you might be feeling unsure about where to begin. Maybe you’re hoping to better understand yourself, reflect on your goals, or find new ways to work through your past. Whatever you’re carrying, I’m here to support you in building tools that can stay with you throughout your life.

I am a strengths-based, client-centered social worker who works holistically with clients as they move through their mental health journey. I offer a safe, non-judgmental space where you’re encouraged to shape your life into the way you want to live it.

I support teens 16+, young adults, and adults who are navigating life transitions such as education and career shifts, identity exploration, self-doubt, and uncertainty about the future. I help clients ground themselves in their true identities, build internal confidence, and take meaningful steps forward with more clarity and self-trust. Our time together may include somatic work, narrative therapy, and empowerment to help you reconnect with yourself and your strengths.

Hi, I’m Julie. I’m a certified complementary medicine practitioner who helps individuals and groups reduce stress, improve emotional balance, and restore the body’s natural flow of energy. My work is rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine and draws on practices like Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT Tapping), Eden Energy Medicine, Brain Gym®, and Reiki.

I use gentle, hands-on and self-applied techniques to calm the nervous system, balance energy, and support the body’s ability to heal. Whether you’re feeling burnt out, anxious, or simply looking to feel more grounded and at ease, our sessions focus on restoring balance and giving you tools you can use anytime.

Before this work, I spent over 20 years in the corporate technology world, where I saw firsthand how stress impacts our well-being. At The Rooted Space, I offer individual sessions and experiential workshops designed to help you reconnect with your energy, release what’s no longer serving you, and rediscover your capacity for calm, clarity, and flow.

I am a registered Social Worker in Ontario, Canada. I draw from a variety of evidence-based methodologies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Existential therapy, among others. I take a pragmatic approach to my work and tailor how I work with clients, based upon their needs, goals and interests. I see my clinical work as highly relational and collaborative.

Common issues I have worked with clients on include anxiety, depression, significant life transitions, extended family caregiving and relationship conflict.

I have experienced health challenges and involvement in the healthcare system, as well as supporting close family going through significant health issues. These experiences have inspired me to work with clients confronted with health problems and chronic pain for themselves or family members, as well as women’s health concerns.

I am currently taking on individual clients, but expect to start working with couples in the near future.

I started my 25 + year career in applied social work and social services work, supporting vulnerable individuals and families. I also have a Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology, and have worked as an Assistant, then Associate, Professor of Social Work in Canada and New Zealand for seven years. I have taught clinical interviewing, theory, policy, and research methods courses, among others. This has provided me with a strong foundation to provide evidence-based care to the people I work with. If you would like to know more about my academic career, see my academic website (www.gretchenperry.ca).

I look forward to helping you work on your goals.
